This is Sadie.
Isn’t she just darling?
The first thing I have to admit about this shoot is that the title is a little deceptive; she is four years shy of being a senior!
Sadie is a bubbly freshmen here in Spokane Valley that did not hesitate to be a model for a senior portrait practice shoot! For an entire hour she sat in pensive positions looking gorgeous as the chilly fall air tried to bully us back indoors.
Not only did Sadie sit through an hour of picture taking but she also sat through 1.5 hours of hair and makeup after spending the day at school and color guard practice! Now that’s dedication.
As a freshmen in high school Sadie still possesses those “innocent” and youthful qualities and I really wanted to capture them on camera! So, with her makeup application I stuck with a neutral highlighting base and did a monochrome coloring technique (meaning cheeks, lips, eyeshadow had a similar tint to inspire youthfulness). There was no need for falsies as she already has gorgeous lashes
With Sadie’s hair we decided on loose curls which I thought would be perfect for this “dream-like” inspired shoot. I wanted to capture that soft, dreamy state and believe these photos did just that!
These photos were actually taken in Spokane Valley across the street from her home. Sometimes, as photographers, we believe that we must travel to the ends of the Earth to produce high quality photos but I have found some of the most candid shots are the ones in our own backyards in environments where we are most comfortable.
