Today I am sharing with you this gem of a DIY I did a couple of weeks ago. YAY!
I love our new apartment; It’s gorgeous, it’s functional, and it has very high ceilings! My only complaint? High ceilings means lots of empty wall space… ahh. It’s been a challenge coming up with cute wall decor finds without breaking our big bank because, you know, I seem to *somehow* gravitate to the most expensive finds. My husband says I have an expensive taste but I consider it more of appreciating the finer things of life.
So, I really, REALLY try to repurpose decor items or at least put in the extra manual labor to save a few extra bucks. With that said, I have been seeing some scroll wall art lately like THIS ONE from the Liz Marie Blog and I decided to make one for our dining room. I already had the paper roll hiding under our bed because that’s what I use to wrap gifts (instead of having a huge pile of different papers I will wrap in this and decorate each gift — apartment living haha).
I bought this roll at Home Depot for around $12ish (<–<<< mom brain ) but you can also find a jumbo roll on Amazon.com!
Making sure I had enough paper to roll on the top and bottom, I then measured and stenciled out equal lines for the letters. After that I hand lettered the Acts 2:46 bible verse and filled in the letters with black sharpie! The last thing I did was roll tightly the top and bottom to create that scroll effect, secured with glue, and ran a string through the top to hang.
Super simple! I think the most challenging part was time… it just takes so much time to hand letter and sharpie each letter.
>>> pssst: If you are unsure about how to hand letter check out my hand lettering tutorial that I created for a chalkboard but it’s the same principle.

I so, so, SOOO love my blue/grey dinning chairs — they are affordable and stylish. I found them on Amazon.com at about $90 for two chairs!
Slowly… every so slowly filling in the letters.
Final result! I’m sorry that I am not a better photographer– these photos just don’t do it justice but I am pretty pleased with the result.
