5 of Our Favorite Easy Crock Pot Meals
I love crock pot meals. The smell, the quick prep, how easy it is to create a delicious meal– all of it entices me! I am not a homemaker who enjoys spending hours in the kitchen. I love to cook for my husband and family but if I were a lone bachelor with a studio apartment, I would find my way around meal cooking probably 90% of the time. But, I do it for my husband because he really enjoys each meal I make for him. I don’t think I have ever received a negative comment about my cooking EVER from him, he’s just that grateful for a home cooked meal. Sooo I will press on and do it for him.
I have found that crock pot cooking is a literal lifesaver. It creates a whole homemade meal with literally 10 minutes of prep time. There are some meals that require more time such as browning meat or what not but it is painless.
The best time of my day is morning. I am more awake, more fresh, more happy, and have more time. Crock pot meals allow me the freedom of making a dinner in the morning when I might half way enjoy it verses making a meal at “stress time bed time”. My husband and I can go to the park with my daughter and come home to a ready meal.
Crock pot meals are not only easy to make but they can also be extremely budget friendly! On average, most crock pot meals use around 5-7 different ingredients. Not too shabby, right? Crock pot meals are practically the “poor man’s” comfort food with the ease of a freezer meal.
Plus, I love that I do not have to worry so much about the house burning down. Leaving something in the oven or stove top is definitely not as ideal as leaving something in the crock pot.
Here are five of my all-time favorite crock pot meals! These are the top five meals that my husband enjoys (picky eater that he is) and I enjoy making regularly. The first one will be our most favorite and I will go down from there!
1- This chili is probably my families favorite meal. Summer or winter, doesn’t matter, my husband will devour it! The best part is that my husband claimed that he absolutely hated beans before eating this chili. Now he will actually “put up” with the beans because he likes it so much.
The chili is really easy to make. Throw some canned beans in, some browned meat, some spices– and you have just created the best chili on earth! This recipe is also very kid friendly with little to no spicy zing. My 15 month old loves it!
You can find the recipe here.
2- Sticking with the soup theme, here is my families second favorite crock pot meal! We do not eat a lot of soup but this potato one is to die for. Rich, creamy, hearty, and easy would be my key words for this particular meal.
I do tweek the recipe a bit. I am not fond of buying pre-cut food as I find it a waste of money when I have the time to do it. So, I put in potatoes that I have diced myself and the recipe still turns out great. I also add some leftover ham if I have any.
3- With hearty in mind, this crock pot Chicken and Dumplings is another favorite here in the Zinne household. This meal requires very little ingredients and yet has a very rich taste! When my husband is craving chicken and dumplings, this is always the first recipe on my mind. My mom makes a fabulous homemade version of this but I prefer the quick tube of biscuit dough, not as healthy however!
4- We love stuffed peppers! I usually make them in the oven but when I know my day is short on time, I prefer to do it in the crock pot. That way I know they are going to be ready when meal time comes. However, when I make this recipe I do use whole grain rice (instead of white) and I do not include the chili flakes.
5– Here is our favorite crock pot beef burgundy recipe. This recipe is not quite as easy as the others mentioned which is why I rated it last HOWEVER it is extremely tasty and worth every minute spent prepping. If fact, now that I’m talking about it I will probably make it this week. Looks too yummy to pass up!
And there you go, the top 5 most used crock pot recipes in the Zinne household! Let me know if you tried any of these and how you liked them.
